Barnes Exterminating Company is a pest control service with locations in Johnson City and Knoxville, TN. We've been in business for more than 35 years and are still growing! Our technicians are certified and bonded in Tennessee and Virginia. In 1985, Scott Barnes left his job at a local pesticide firm to pursue his dream of becoming a business owner. He found a local bank willing to lend him $3,000 for a down payment on a truck, got his pesticide license from the State of Tennessee and purchased the chemicals he needed to open his business which initially operated out of a makeshift office in the basement of his apartment. This was the beginning of Barnes Exterminating in Gray, TN. By 1988 Barnes Exterminating had grown to 3 employees.

We used this company because it had great reviews. In turn, the reviews proved true, as this was a great choice for us in protecting our home from critters/bugs/pest. I thought i had a spider problem in my 5th wheel camper. Joe come out and checked every nook and corner to find out where my problem was. He was super knowledgeable. Has been killing bugs for 12 years now and really made me feel confident about not having a spider problem and just getting random stray spiders. He did still offer to fume the camper if it made me feel better at a really great price. If i ever have a bug problem this is the company/guy i will call. Honest workers are very hard to come by and this guy is 100% great. 15/10 would call again.

The technician came out to my house and asked if he could return in a week to spray and complete paperwork because he was so busy. After agreeing, I asked that he please not forget to come back. Fast forward one week later and there was no return visit. I called the office and explained what had happened. I received no apology and a new date for another week out!
I should not have to wait two weeks because the technician decided to never come back. Needless to say, I found another local business with better customer service and quicker response.

I seen a couple of spots where termites were or had been, so I called 4 locally known pest control companies. All offered free inspection. Prices were similar, however the treatments were very different. I had done my research before hand so I would know what questions to ask. I asked the same questions to each tech to gain more information and to see if they knew what they were doing.
I'm writing this review because Barnes is who I went with to do my treatment. There are several reasons why I choose Barnes. I had the pleasure of meeting 4 employees and speaking to 1 employee on the phone. Chad was my first inspector and the the reason I chose to allow Barnes to treat and have a contract with them. He answered my questions with respect, honesty and professionalism. Harley was the next person I encountered he too showed the same. Eric came out to apply treatment and he worked hard and I appreciated the professional manner he displayed. Leann is who I spoke with in the office she was very nice and helpful. I wanted to recognize them because they went above my expectations. I will recommend Barnes to anyone that needs pest control. Mandi Love
