The two boys learned the basics of their trade from their father, Jim Salvant, who owned and operated a Louisiana pest control business while the boys were young. They spent their summers working alongside their father until he sold his business when the boys were still in grade school. A few years later, Paul and Jim both went to work for other pest control companies until 1978, when they decided to open The Bug Man together. From day one, customer service was of paramount importance to the company.

The problem begins with Fido or Fluffy the Cat scratching here and there and if it's not cut short, you could be dealing with a full flea infestation in the house. More than 2,500 different species of fleas exist throughout the world, yet one is the most common among American dogs and cats. It's called Ctenocephalides felis, or the cat flea. That's right. If your dog has fleas, they're most likely cat fleas. Your dog (or cat) is scratching. Even if you don't catch fleas red-handed, if you see your pet scratching or biting at its fur, fleas may well be the culprit.

Bed bugs can be 1 to 7 millimeters long. They're flat, oval-shaped and reddish-brown in color. They don't have wings, so they rely on animals or humans to carry them from one place to another. Bed bugs can bite any part of your body, but they'll usually focus on areas of skin that are exposed while you sleep, such as your face, neck, arms, and hands. In some cases, the bites may develop into fluid-filled blisters. Although bed bug bites are rarely dangerous, bites can be very itchy. In some cases, the bite can become infected, cause an allergic reaction or leave you with a bed bug rash that is very irritating.
